Mysuru: The Mysuru Police Helpline celebrated its 17th anniversary yesterday. Started on July 12, 2000 when C. Chandrashekar was the City Police Commissioner, it has been helping scores of women facing domestic problems, elders, people with depression and students with problems.
Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Helpline volunteers and Police staff celebrated the anniversary by cutting a cake.
Nearly 30 volunteers with the co-operation of the Police Commissioner are doing excellent work. The Commissioner, lauding their efforts, asked them to continue the good work of counselling women, senior citizens and students who have gone into depression by attending to their calls immediately.
The Helpline is located at Lashkar Police Station building on Ashoka Road near Nehru Circle. Those who have problems may contact Women’s Helpline No. 2418400, Child Helpline No. 1098, Special Juvenile Police Unit No. 2418596 and Women Police Station No. 2418310, according to Dr. A.S. Rao in a press release.
