Police hold residents’ meet at Gokulam

June 11, 2017

Mysuru: To strengthen the bond between the Police and public, the City Police had recently introduced Police beat system. As part of the initiative, Jayalakshmipuram Police Station Inspector Ravindra chaired a meeting with the residents of Gokulam last week along with probationary Sub-Inspector Bhavya, ASI Jayaram and Head Constable D. Vinod.

Over 70 residents of Gokulam Second Stage — Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Mains — participated in the meeting held at the Park near BSNL Telephone Exchange.

Residents asked the Police to initiate measures to set right the gate of the area park and appoint a security guard to prevent anti-social activities inside the park, especially after dark. They urged the Police to convey to the authorities to switch on lights inside the park from 6 pm to 6 am.

They also complained of traffic problems on the Sixth Main. The MCC must clean up vacant spaces near residential areas. They also said that as the area does not have a Corporator, it is difficult for them to get their civic problems redressed.

Following the meeting, the Police have written to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities to take measures to fix the damaged gate of the park and also appoint watchman for security. The MCC has been asked to regularly clear garbage from the area and also to shift the garbage bin that is placed in a vacant space adjacent to the park as garbage spills over to the park frequented by morning and evening walkers.
