Police, Paramilitary lauded for incident-free election bandobust

Mysuru: The 15th Karnataka Assembly elections has passed off peacefully in city with tight security arrangements made by the District Administration and the Police.

“It is due to the people’s patience, co-operation, the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari and the untiring efforts of the Police Officers and staff that the election bandobust was a success,” said City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subramanyeswara Rao and Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Singh speaking to SOM yesterday.

The Police Officers have followed every direction of the District Election officials from time to time in all the three sub-divisions and provided tight security. They have worked day and night, said Dr. Rao lauding his team of officials for their efforts.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah and AICC President Rahul Gandhi came for election campaigning, it went off peacefully without any untoward incidents in spite of heavy crowd at all times. This was because of the way we had made arrangements, said Dr. Rao.

As far as the election process was concerned, the civil Police and the Paramilitary Forces were deployed at check-posts, mustering centres, polling booths and counting centres, kept a strict vigil and hence nothing untoward happened and the polls went off peacefully, he said.

The counting is just over and till the government formation takes place, we will continue with the strict bandobust in city limits, Dr. Rao added.

“Even as the elections were approaching we identified the sensitive centres in the villages and deployed more forces keeping a hawk’s eye on them. Hence our bandobust arrangements were successful,” said SP Amit Singh.

All the DySPs, Circle Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and the staff carried out their duties responsibly, he said.
