Political debates, canvassing and advertisements banned in media

Mysuru:  Deputy Commissioner and District  Electoral Officer Abhiram G. Sankar, addressing a press meet at  his office here yesterday, said that media carrying political debates, canvassing and advertisements will be banned from tomorrow till May 12.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the election candidates with not more than ten people can engage in door-to-door canvass during the said period. He added that Section 144 or prohibitory orders would be clamped in district from 6 pm tomorrow till 6 pm on May 12.

Continuing, the DC disclosed that over the last four days Rs. 16.74 lakh of unaccounted cash had been seized with the arrest of 51 people. He added that seven bikes, two four-wheelers and one autorickshaw have also been seized.
