Poll code violation: Congress lodges complaint against Minister

Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing Higher Education Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan of violating the Model Code of Conduct in force for the Legislative Council polls from South Graduates Constituency, Congress leaders led by KPCC Working President R. Dhruvanarayan on Thursday lodged a complaint with Regional Commissioner Dr. G.C. Prakash, who is the electoral officer.

Speaking to presspersons, Dhruvanarayan alleged that Dr. Ashwathnarayan had misused his powers to campaign for the BJP candidate, when he had come to Government Science College at Mandya for an inspection.

Pointing out that the Congress had also lodged a complaint with Mandya DC and ZP CEO too in this regard, he charged that Dr. Ashwathnarayan had clearly violated the Model Code of Conduct by carrying out a poll campaign during an official meeting. Dhruvanarayan also urged the poll authorities to register an FIR against the Minister and initiate legal action against him.

MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, former Mayor Ayub Khan, City Congress President R. Murthy, District President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, and others were present.
