Mysuru – City-based Karnataka Government Undertaking Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd. has supplied 1,100 vials of indelible ink for the voting in the by-elections for Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies. Voting at both the constituencies began this morning.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Chairman of Mysore Paints and Varnish Ltd. (also known as MyLAC) H.A. Venkatesh said that the Election Commission had placed a request of 1,100 vials of indelible ink for the by-election. “We had prepared the ink and had delivered it to the Election Commission on Mar. 15, 2017,” he said.
“There are over 2 lakh voters each in Nanjangud and Gundlupet segments. Each vial contains 10ml ink that can be applied to 1,500 voters. This is the last election we are using indelible ink bottles. From the next election, we will use indelible marker pens. Each marker, developed using advanced technology, can mark 1,000 voters,” he added. MyLAC is prepared to get orders for the supply of the ink for the election to be held in Malaysia, Cambodia and Nepal, he said.
MyLAC was established in 1937 by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. It is owned by Government of Karnataka and apart from supplying indelible ink to poll-bound places, the company also exports the ink to countries like Thailand, Singapore, Nigeria, Malaysia, South Africa and Afghanistan.
