By-polls: 2 nominations rejected in N’gud; all 9 accepted in Gundlupet

Returning Officer G. Jagadeesha has rejected the nomination papers of R. Renuka and Shivappa, the two independent candidates, who had filed their nominations for the Nanjangud by-elections.

With this the Election Commission has accepted nominations papers of 12 candidates.

Among the candidates whose nominations papers have been accepted include: M. Pradeep Kumar (Karunadu Party – Independent), S. Mallanna (Independent), Subbaiah (Independent), Kalale N. Keshavamurthy (Indian National Congress), V. Sreenivasa Prasad (Bharatiya Janata Party), H.P. Sheshanna (Independent), D. Eshwar (Republican Party of India), R. Prasanna (Independent), G. Anand (Independent),  Mahadevaswamy (Independent),  Gurulingaiah (Independent) and D.K. Tulasidas (Independent).

Meanwhile, the nomination papers of all the nine candidates for the Gundlupet by-polls have been accepted. The candidates include: C.S. Niranjan Kumar (Bharatiya Janata Party), Geetha Mahadevaprasad (Indian National Congress), Shivaram (Independent), M. Honnuraiah (Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Janata Party), M. Shivaraju (Republican Party of India), K. Somashekar (Independent), B.C. Shekar Raju (Independent), B. Mahadevaprasad (Independent), P.S. Yedurappa (Independent).

The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is Mar. 24 (Friday) and the polling will be held between 7 am and 5 pm on Apr. 9 . The results will be announced on Apr. 13.
