By-polls are not a battle between individuals but ideologies: Congress MLC

Maintaining that Nanjangud and Gundlupet bypolls were not a battle between individuals, but between secular forces and communal forces, Congress MLC V.S. Ugrappa said that the voters of Nanjangud were ready to teach a lesson to V. Sreenivasa Prasad, who was responsible for the by-poll.

Addressing the press meet at a private hotel here this morning, Ugrappa alleged that Prasad had cheated his voters by quitting his seat.

Ridiculing State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa for promising to adopt the by-poll constituencies if the BJP won, Ugrappa claimed that BSY would not become the CM anymore and as such there was no question of BSY adopting any constituency.

Replying to a  question on the entire State Cabinet camping in the two Constituencies, Ugrappa defended his party saying that Prime Minister Modi too had extensively campaigned in Varanasi in the recently held UP polls.

Replying to a question on senior Congress leader Vishwanath’s recent statements against the Congress, Ugrappa said Vishwanath is a sensible leader who would not cause embarrassing situations for the party.

However, Vishwanath’s statements is ample proof that there was inner democracy in the Congress.

Former Minister and MLC H.M. Revanna, who also addressed the meet, said that Siddharamaiah’s growing popularity amongst the masses had rattled the BJP.

City Congress President R. Murthy, ZAK Chairperson Mallige Veeresh, MyLac Chairman H.V. Venkatesh and others were present at the press meet.
