Poor road restoration in Saraswathipuram

Sir,

I wish to draw the attention of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities to the plight of residents of 5th Main Road, 6th Cross, Saraswathipuram.

Around ten days ago, the road in our locality was dug up for civic works. Though the trench has since been filled, the road surface has not been properly levelled or restored.

For the past four to five days, no workers have been seen at the site and the road remains in a highly uneven and dusty condition.

This area is home to several senior citizens who are finding it extremely difficult to walk safely on the damaged stretch. Two-wheeler riders, car owners and pedestrians are all facing daily inconvenience.

The loose mud, uneven surface and exposed patches have made commuting hazardous, particularly during the night and for elderly residents. There is also the risk of accidents and damage to vehicles.

Residents have repeatedly contacted MCC officials seeking intervention, but no meaningful action has been taken. Instead, residents are being directed from one official to another, with each department passing responsibility elsewhere.  This lack of coordination has left the issue unresolved for days, causing hardship to residents and raising concerns about civic accountability.

Mysuru is known for its well-maintained civic infrastructure and such negligence not only causes inconvenience but also affects the quality of life of residents.  We therefore urge the MCC authorities to immediately complete the levelling work and restore the road to a safe and motorable condition before it leads to accidents or further hardship.
