Poor status of Kukkarahalli Lake

September 5, 2025

Sir,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the deteriorating conditions at Kukkarahalli Lake, a valuable green space in our community.

While the Lake offers a beautiful natural setting, its current state makes it increasingly difficult, and at times unsafe, for residents to enjoy, especially seniors and families.

The walking path around the Lake is in urgent need of maintenance.

Soil erosion has exposed sharp stones, creating a hazardous surface that is challenging to navigate and poses a real risk of falls or injury.

For our elderly residents, this is particularly problematic, making a simple walk around the Lake a treacherous endeavour.

Furthermore, the restroom facilities are in an unacceptable state. Their poor condition is not only unpleasant but also unhygienic, deterring many from spending extended periods at the Lake.

Finally, the lack of proper lighting along the paths raises serious safety concerns, especially during early mornings or late evenings. This makes the Lake unsafe for walkers after dusk, limiting its accessibility and utility for many.

Kukkarahalli Lake has the potential to be a cherished recreational spot for all. I urge the local authorities to take immediate action to address these issues.

Investing in the repair of the walking paths, improving restroom facilities and installing adequate lighting will not only enhance the safety and comfort of visitors but also demonstrate a commitment to maintaining our public spaces for the benefit of the entire community.
