PoP Ganesha idols seized under MCC Zone-5 limits

But openly sold at Basavanagudi Market Grounds in Hebbal

Mysuru: Though there is a ban on manufacturing and selling Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP), such idols are being sold openly in many places including Basavanagudi Market Grounds at Hebbal.

Public alleged that the vendors greased the palms of officials concerned who had come for inspection following which they allowed the sale of PoP idols despite knowing the ill-effects of it on the environment especially water bodies where they will be immersed.

Meanwhile, authorities concerned have seized two Plaster of Paris Ganesha idols being sold at Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Zone-5 limits in city.
