Posters of Dasara Flower Show, Kavigoshti, Cultural Events released

Mysuru: With just four days left for the commencement of this year’s Dasara festival, the District Administration has been working round the clock to ensure works are completed before Oct. 3.

As a part of the publicity event, District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa released the posters of Flower Show, Kavigoshti and Cultural Programmes at Mysore Palace Board office at Mysore Palace premises  here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevappa said that the Cultural Programme at the Mysore Palace premises would be held between Oct. 3 and Oct. 10 of which the inaugural event would be held on Oct. 3 at 6.30 pm during which the ‘Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan’ award will be presented.

The cultural events in front of Mysore Palace will be held between 4 pm and 10 pm every day. Apart from the Mysore Palace premises, cultural events will held at Jaganmohan Palace, Kalamandira, Ganabharathi, Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha and Dufferin Clock Tower in city and in front of Srikanteshwara Temple in Nanjangud. This year, a total of 320 cultural troupes and about 4,000 artistes will be performing on various stages across the city and in Nanjangud, he said.

This apart, about 6,000 artistes from professional and amateur theatre artistes will stage mythological, historical, social plays and also render theatre songs (ranga geethegalu) at Town Hall, Natana Rangamandira, Kiru Rangamandira and RamaGovinda Rangamandira.

Dasara Kavigoshti

Noted writer and film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar will inaugurate the Dasara Kavigoshti on Oct. 5 at 10.30 am at Jaganmohan Palace. Thinker Dr. Banjagere Jayaprakash will be the chief guest. Pranathi R. Gadada will be the ‘Chiguru’ guest.

Dasara Kavigoshti will be held between Oct. 5 and 9 from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.

Oct. 5: ‘Samarasa (regional) Kavigoshti’ will be inaugurated by noted lyricist Nagendra Prasad. About 33 poets from Mysuru and surrounding districts will take part.

Oct. 6: ‘Samanata Kavigoshti’ will be inaugurated by Devu Pattara. Shankar Devanur will preside. Prashanth Nayak will be the chief guest. Over 30 participants, who are serving in different professions and are poets by hobby, will take part.

Oct. 7: ‘Santasa Kavigoshti’ will be inaugurated by scholar Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah. Dr. Basavaraja Sadara will preside. Dr. Latha Rajashekar will be the chief guest. There will be jugalbandi by 11 poets.

Oct. 8: ‘Samashti Kavigoshti’ is a new feature this year with poets of different languages from across the globe taking part. Poet Dr. H.S. Shivaprakash will inaugurate. Prof. K.Y. Narayanaswamy will preside. J.N. Tejashree will be the chief guest. A total of 15 poets will take part.

Oct. 9: ‘Samruddha Kavigoshti’ will be inaugurated by Dr. H.L. Pushpa. Abdul Rasheed of Mysore Akashvani will preside. Prof. Kavitha Rai will be the chief guest. Poets from 31 districts       will take part.

Flower Show

The Dasara Flower Show, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will be held between Oct. 3 and Oct. 12 at Kuppanna Park.

The entry tickets for Flower Show are priced at Rs. 50 with free entrance to children aged below six years and Rs. 25 for children in the age group of 6 to 12 years.

DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, ZP CEO K.M. Gayathri, Mysore Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya and members of all three Sub-Committees were present.
