Pourakarmika Association demands facilities on par with BBMP civic workers

Mysore/Mysuru: MCC Pourakarmika and Contract Pourakarmika Mahasangha has appealed Karnataka Safai Karmachari Commission Chairman Kote M. Shivanna to provide facilities to MCC Pourakarmikas on par with BBMP Pourakarmikas.

A delegation of the Mahasangha led by its President R. Ramesh met Shivanna at the MCC office here yesterday  when he had come for a meeting to discuss Pourakarmika issues.

Pointing out that Pourakarmikas are Corona warriors, Ramesh said that the Commission must ensure availability of beds, oxygen and other medical facilities for the civic workers, who get admitted at COVID Hospitals. Urging for more transport facilities by increasing the number of buses to ferry Pourakarmikas, he said that there should be regular supply of breakfast and drinking water.

Welcoming the MCC’s decision to announce Rs. 5 lakh relief to each of the two dead Pourakarmikas — Ravi and Vinod, he urged the Commission to follow up with the Government on providing more relief. He also demanded exclusive rest rooms for Pourakarmikas and UGD workers at mustering points.

The Association office-bearers N. Mara, T. Srinivas, S.M. Palaniswamy, Kumaraswamy  and others were present.
