Mysuru: Karnataka State City Corporation, City Municipal Council, Town Municipal Council Pourakarmika Maha Sangha will be providing buses to ferry Pourakarmikas from all 65 Wards in city to State-level Convention of Pourakarmikas to be held on Apr. 7 at Gayathri Vihar, Bangalore Palace Grounds.
The State-level Convention will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at 11 am. Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar will preside. Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar and other Ministers will be the guests.
Addressing a preliminary meeting held at a private hotel in city recently, Maha Sangha Vice-President R. Shivanna said, the responsibility of bringing the Pourakarmikas to the Convention has been given to Ward-level Maistries and Sanitary Supervisors. A total of 65 buses — one bus from each Ward — from Mysuru will depart at 5.30 am on Apr. 7 from the respective Pourakarmikas attendance points of the Wards.
“The State-level Convention, organised as a part of Maha Sangha Silver Jubilee celebrations, will also demand the State Government to fulfil various demands of Pourakarmikas including regularising 6,000 Pourakarmikas working in various City Corporations, City Municipal Councils and Town Municipal Councils across the State,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mysuru City Corporation Permanent Pourakarmikas and Contract Pourakarmikas Association Chief General Secretary C.R. Rachaiah said that about 4,000 people, including 3,000 Pourakarmikas, 231 UGD workers, 600 drivers and leaders, would take part in the Convention.
