Pourakarmikas to strike work from tomorrow

Mysuru: Accusing the State Government of failing to fulfil their just demands like regularisation of services and abolition of contract system and outsourcing, MCC Pourakarmikas, under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Nagarapalike, Nagarasabha Mattu Purasabhegala Pourakarmika Mahasangha, will strike work in the city from tomorrow (Oct.3).

Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here this morning, the Mahasangha President Narayana, who is also a former city Mayor, said that Pourakarmikas had staged a massive demonstration in city on Sept.19 seeking regularisation of services, abolition of contract system and direct payment of wages through Local Bodies, among others. But as the authorities are indifferent to the demands, the Pourakarmikas will strike work from tomorrow to press the Government for meeting their demands.

“The MCC Pourakarmikas will hold a demonstration in front of the MCC office on Sayyaji Rao Road tomorrow to mark the beginning of the indefinite stir,” Narayana said adding that the Pourakarmikas will also boycott Dasara festivities.

Accusing District Minister G.T. Devegowda of following an anti-Dailt policy, he said that the Minister had remained silent despite several representations to him seeking to address Pourakarmika issues.
