Power line on farm lands: Farmers to stage protest on June 11

Mysuru: Farmers under the aegis of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene will stage a protest in front of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) Office near Mydanahalli in the taluk on June 11 at 11 am opposing the action of PGCIL in drawing power lines either above the agricultural land or underground in the middle of the land.

Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here, KRRS District General Secretary Hosakote Basavaraj alleged that the power lines were being drawn bowing to the lobby of capitalists and realtors, thus inconveniencing the farmers.

He said that a 400 KV line is being drawn from Hiriyur to Mysuru passing over the land of farmers in villages under Yelwal hobli. He further said that hitherto PGCIL used to draw the line through desolate fields and regretted that all norms have been flouted now.

Office-bearers of KRRS were present during the press meet.
