Mysuru: Renowned Tamil actor, choreographer and director Prabhu Deva, who hails from Karnataka, said he was delighted to be part of Mysuru Dasara this year, describing the Nada Habba as a ‘Mane Habba’ (a festival celebrated in every household).
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Mysuru yesterday evening, Prabhu Deva said he had missed the Dasara celebrations for the past five to six years.
Selected to inaugurate Yuva Dasara at the open grounds in Uttanahalli tomorrow (Oct. 13), he said he readily accepted the invitation after the Yuva Dasara Sub-Committee approached him. He added that his parents and family members were even happier than he was for the invitation.
Recalling his childhood days, when he celebrated Navaratri with family and friends, Prabhu Deva said he was looking forward to joining the celebrations with the younger generation.
This morning, the actor called on Dasara-2026 inaugurator Gavimutt Seer Abhinava Sri Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji at Suttur Mutt, at the foot of Chamundi Hill, where the Seer is staying.
He was accompanied by his mother, Mahadevamma Sundar, and Vidushi Dr. Mysore Nagamani Srinath, who received the ‘Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan’ award yesterday, among others.
Later Prabhu Deva and his mother met the Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and sought his blessings.
