Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana launched in District

Scheme applicable to women of all categories but only for first delivery, Rs. 5,000 to be credited directly to beneficiary bank account

Mysuru: Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a maternity benefit programme of the Union Government, has been launched throughout the country.

Department of Women and Child Development Deputy Director K. Padma launched the programme by distributing applications to eligible women on Dec.2. She said that PMMVY is aimed at addressing common problems encountered by pregnant women and nursing mothers like anaemia, weakness and child mortality. She further said that the application forms were available free at                               Anganwadi Centres.

The programme is applicable to women of all categories but only for the first delivery. Rs. 5,000 would be credited directly to the beneficiary bank account in three instalments, she explained.

District Health Officer Dr. Venkatesh, Child Development Project Officer Shivalingappa, Reproductive Child Health Officer Dr. Ravi, PMMVY District Convenors Praveen, Avinash and others were present.
