Pratibha Puraskar conferred on meritorious students

Mysore/Mysuru: Maharani Government PU College had organised a programme at its premises recently to present Pratibha Puraskar for meritorious students who had scored highest marks in PUC examination (2021-22).

Speaking on the occasion, MLA L. Nagendra said that out of 700 students who were studying in Science, Arts and Commerce streams, 93 students secured distinction and 400 students got first class. “At present, women are excelling in all the streams. We find women working in all the sectors now, who were earlier confined within the four walls.”

Stating that Rs. 1 crore grant has been released for construction of  six laboratories and classrooms, the MLA said that the College Principal has requested an additional Rs. 12 lakh for constructing more toilets and assured that he would see that the required fund is sanctioned.

“About 2,250 students are studying in the College, where most of them come from rural places. Students must take up competitive exams and achieve something in life. We have the first tribal woman and a teacher as our President. Droupadi Murmu is the first citizen of the country now. This is one of the greatest developments in the country,” he added.

Deputy Director of Pre-University Education (DDPUE) Srinivasa Murthy, College Principal P. Somanna, Bharatiya Itihasa Sankalana Samiti Vice-President Dr. S.B.M. Prasanna, Corporator Pramila Bharath and others were present at the programme.
