Preparations on for three-day Mysuru Fest from Jan. 26

DC, Police Commissioner and Joint Director of Tourism Department inspect sites

Mysore/Mysuru: With just a few days remaining until Mysuru Fest 2024, an initiative by the Department of Tourism to promote tourism and enhance Mysuru’s brand value, Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, Joint Director of Tourism Department M.K. Savitha  and others inspected the venues yesterday, took stock of the preparations and released posters.

The fest, spanning various venues across the city, aims to promote tourism in the region. During their inspection of the Open Air Theatre and the University of Mysore Centenary Clock Tower in Manasagangothri campus, the DC emphasised the need for organised execution. Cultural programmes and rural sporting events are also planned.

The DC issued instructions on parking facilities, drinking water, mobile toilets and underscored the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.

Tourism Minister H.K. Patil will inaugurate the fest on Jan. 27 at 7 pm, in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, and Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh. 

The DC highlighted the fest’s potential to elevate Mysuru’s global and domestic tourism status. City Police Commissioner Ramesh assured strategic Police deployment at crucial points for smooth event execution. The three-day fest includes Chitra Santhe, painting contests, flea markets, Mysuru food fest, and cultural events featuring renowned artistes.

Programme schedule

Jan. 26: ‘Chitra Santhe’ (Paintings Fair) at the road in front of the Clock Tower, Manasagangothri campus, from 8 am to 8 pm.

Jan. 27:  Painting contest in front of the Mathematics Department Block, Manasagangothri campus from 10 am to 11.30 am.

Jan. 26 to 28: Flea Market in the area around Open Air Theatre, Manasagangothri campus from 10 am to 9 pm on all the three days.
