‘Prior permission needed for victory processions’

Mysuru: With barely a few hours left for tomorrow’s counting of votes, the City Police are taking no chances to ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the counting.

Speaking to SOM this morning, City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subramanyeswara  Rao said that prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr.PC has been clamped across the city from 6 am to 12 midnight tomorrow in view of vote counting.

Pointing out that taking out victory rallies and processions and also cracker bursting and the likes are banned, he said that however rallies can be taken out only after the total completion of the counting process, with Police permission.

Advising the people against gathering in large numbers near the counting centres, open spaces, public joints and such other places in the backdrop of prohibitory orders, Dr. A.S. Rao sought the co-operation of the public for maintaining law and order in the city during the counting.

He also cautioned that legal action will be initiated against those inciting disturbance and violence when the counting process is on tomorrow.
