Private Hospital hands over body of Covid patient after former MLA intervenes

Mysore/Mysuru: In a noble gesture, former MLA of Krishnaraja, M.K. Somashekar has arranged for handing over the dead body of a COVID positive patient as a Private Hospital had refused till the settlement of bill. He also made the management to pay money towards conducting last rites of the deceased.

Recently, a Corona positive woman was admitted to a Private Hospital for treatment. Her husband, a resident of Ramanuja Road, works as watchman. She succumbed to Coronavirus on Wednesday.

But the Hospital authorities refused to handover the body till the bill of Rs. 2 lakh was cleared. On receipt of information, Somashekar came to the spot and convinced the hospital management to handover the body without insisting on clearing the pending amount.

Somashekar said the deceased was working as maid and leaves behind two kids. The family was not in a condition to pay Rs. 2 lakh bill.

Her husband had deposited Rs.20,000 yesterday morning and even that money was returned to the family towards conducting last rites of the deceased lady.
