Mysuru:  All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) held a signature campaign in front of City Railway Station accusing the State Government of indirectly supporting the privatisation of educational sector, here yesterday.

AIDSO State Secretary Subhash Bettadakoppa speaking to the media persons said, the State Government was contemplating to close around 6,200 government primary and high schools citing low admission rate and has permitted to 473 new private schools which had led to several doubts.

“The AIDSO students committee visited about 30 government schools which had low admission rates to find out the facts. Though, the school is in bad condition, the admissions are not an issue. Despite this, the government is mulling to close down these schools,” he alleged.

Stating that the State Government was compelled to grant permission to private schools as parents preferred their children to study in the government schools, Subhash said how the parents can be blamed for low admission in government schools. “Despite, experts suggesting the State Government to improve infrastructure in government schools has only fallen on deaf ears,” he alleged.

AIDSO Mysuru Committee President Chandrakala, Secretary Nithin, Vice-President Swathi, committee members Chandana, Chandrika, Hema, Disha and Anjali and others were present.
