Prof. AVN releases Dr. Manik Bengeri’s book ‘Sangeet-Naatya-Panchayatan’

Mysore/Mysuru: City-based art critic, musician and writer Dr. Manik Bengeri’s  book titled ‘Sangeet-Naatya-Panchayatan’ was released by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra Chairman Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy at a simple function held here yesterday.

The book is based on the theme of Indian Music, Tansen’s contribution, Bharatnatyashstra,  Theatre movement in India, Western influence,  starting from Bengal Theatre, Hindi Theatre, Gujarati Theatre, Marathi Theatre, Kannada Theatre, Telugu and Tamil Theatre in general and Marathi theatre-music-drama era – glory provided by Padma Bhushan Balgandharv of Maharashtra and its impact on Karnataka theatre in particular.

The book consisting of 505 pages has the opinions of five top people from the fields of Literature, Music, History, Theatre and Critic — Padma Shree Madhu Mangesh Karnik of Mumbai; Pandit Prabhakar Karekar of Mumbai; Prof. A.V. Narasimha Murthy of Mysuru; Jagadish Kunte of Belagaavi and Prof. Shubhada Shaha of Belagaavi respectively.

Dr. Manik A.V. Bengeri has worked on this book in Marathi language for five years.
