Book ‘Itihaasada Taaregalu’ released, Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy couple felicitated

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that noted scholar and historian Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy‘s (AVN) works have a scientific dimension, Nadoja Dr. Bhashyam Swamiji, Founder of Sri Yoganarasimhaswamy temple in Vijayanagar, said that Prof. AVN’s knowledge of numismatics is exceptional.

He was speaking after releasing Prof. AVN’s book ‘Itihaasada Taaregalu’ at a programme jointly organised by District Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota, Mysuru at Yoganarasimhaswamy temple in Vijayanagar 1st Stage here this morning.

Pointing out that the book lucidly narrates the life and times of great personalities of yesteryears such as late Sringeri Mutt Seer, Sahukar Chennaiah etc., Dr. Bhashyam Swamiji observed that the book takes its readers back to the memorable days of great personalities.

Noting that the word ‘pagoda’ is not a dish (pakoda), but refers to ancient coins, he said that gold coins were used to be called as ‘pagodas’ that existed in ancient times.

Prof. AVN is an outstanding  numismatics expert. All his works — be it in Kannada, English, Tamil or any other language — are simply excellent as they are rich in content, he said.

Former Karnataka Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Padma Shekar, who spoke about the work, said that it is a 540-page book featuring 101 articles. Pointing out that 18 of the articles are dedicated to Sringeri Mutt Seers of the past, she said that AVN has made a lot of efforts to explore history and truth. 

Observing that the book  takes back the readers to forgotten history, Dr. Padma Shekar said that the work is a rare and varied collection of topics  which makes the readers to revive their memories.

Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy and his wife Kamalamba were felicitated on the occasion.

Former MLA Vasu, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal, Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota President  M. Chandrashekar and others were present.
