Mysuru: Congress leader and former Education Minister Prof. B.K. Chandrashekar (BKC) lashed out at PM Modi for misusing democratic institutions like CBI, Supreme Court, Election Commission of India, RBI, Central Vigilance Commission and other constitutional bodies for his political advantage as he is on a losing side in this election.
Addressing media persons at a private hotel in city this morning he alleged that right from his initial days of becoming the head of this nation, PM Modi was misusing these statutory institutions to silence his political detractors besides to make them fall in line.
Modi took the unilateral arbitrary decision on demonetisation of higher currency notes without consulting the opinion of RBI and discussing in his cabinet meeting. “As per the procedure, the PM must and should discuss with RBI and his cabinet colleagues on such issues, but he never did on this sensitive economic decision that risked the lives of crores of poor people in the country,” he said.
The PM also misused Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate which allegedly conducted raids on the houses and supporters of Congress, JD(S) and other Opposition parties, he said.
Up in arms on Election Commission for its partial action regarding the airing of NaMo TV, Prof. BKC asked the ECI why it had maintained silence on telecasting of NaMo TV until it received a complaint. Aren’t EC officials not aware of this channel?
Stating that Modi is a ‘fake patriot’, he took strong objections on the former for misusing ‘Balakot’ airstrike after Pulwama attack and surgical strikes on terror camps across the border for his political advantage.
Commenting on BJP’s Sankalp Patra- 2019, BKC said Modi had failed to deliver his promise of ‘acche din’, bringing back black money, creation of two crore jobs every year and protecting the interests of farmers.
Answering a query on CM H.D. Kumarawamy’s alleged remarks on ‘thrashing journalists’ for their biased reporting, Prof. Chandrashekar said that he would not agree with the CM on this statement.
Former MLA Vasu, City Congress President R. Murthy, former Mayor B.K. Prakash, former Corporator Ramesh and others were present.
