Prof. K.S. Jagadish Chandra (88), retired Botany Professor at University of Mysore (UoM), passed away this morning at his residence in Bengaluru.

He leaves behind his wife, three daughters, one son and a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were performed this afternoon in Bengaluru, according to sources.

Prof. Jagadish Chandra was a Cytogeneticist and had specialised in Plant Cell Culture. He had introduced Biotechnology subject during 1990 for M.Sc Botany programme and had completed many research projects from UGC, Central Silk Board etc. He had also guided many students for Ph.D degrees.
