Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy to be feted on his 70th birthday tomorrow

Mysuru: Noted Kannada writer Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy, who will turn 70, will be felicitated at a programme to take place at Kalamandira tomorrow (Oct.22).

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, the Felicitation Committee Secretary Chinnaswamy Vaddagere said that renowned writer Prof. Chandrashekar Patil (Champa) will inaugurate the programme at 10am. Sugar and Small Scale Industries Minister Dr.Geetha Mahadevaprasad will preside. Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Manu Baligar will release a book titled ‘Maleyuru Guruswamy-Baduku-Baraha’, authored by Dr. Mahadevaswamy Heggothara. Former Minister V. Somanna and MLA Vasu will be the chief guests, he said.

The felicitation function will take place at 3.30 pm in the presence of Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and other Seers. Folk scholar Dr. G.R. Channabasappa will deliver the felicitation address, Chinnaswamy Vaddagere said and added that Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan and a host of other political leaders will take part.

The Felicitation Committee office-bearers Helavarahundi Siddappa, S. Shivamurthy Kanya, M. Chandrashekar, Dr.Nandish Hanche and D.N. Lokappa were present at the press meet.
