Mysore/Mysuru: With the by-poll to MCC Ward 18 (Yadavagiri) scheduled to take place tomorrow (Feb.9), the city Police, based on the   direction of the Election Commission, have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr.PC, in the limits of the Ward from 6 am to 8 pm tomorrow, in order to ensure a free and  fair polls.

The voting in the Ward (ST Reserved) will take place from 7 am to 5 pm tomorrow and the counting of votes will be taken up on Feb. 11. The by-poll has been necessitated following the disqualification of  BJP Corporator Guruvinayak over fake caste certificate row.

The mustering for the by-poll took place at the Government Sanskrit School on Sayyaji Rao road this morning, with about 80 Government servants assigned for poll duty attending it. A total of 11 booths have been set up in the Ward, according to Election Officer Shivegowda.

Meanwhile, BJP Candidate B.V. Ravindra, Congress candidate R. Ravindrakumar and JD(S) candidate Swamy undertook a hectic door-to door campaign on Friday to woo the voters at the last minute.

Interestingly, the Congress and JD(S), which are the ruling partners in the MCC, are contesting the by-polls separately. The Ward covers Yadavagiri, Manjunathpura and Medar Block localities.
