Sir,
For the past three days, residents of Rajivnagar have been facing frequent and prolonged power cuts. We have been without electricity for nearly 30 hours.
Children are unable to study, students preparing for examinations are finding it difficult to concentrate, elderly people are struggling without fans and families are unable to carry out even their routine household work.
Working people are also finding it difficult to attend to their responsibilities. What is more disappointing is the lack of information about the repeated power cuts. Residents are paying their electricity bills regularly, despite the increase in electricity charges. Naturally, people expect a basic and reliable service in return.
Residents would like to know what is causing these repeated outages and when the problem will be permanently resolved. There has been no proper explanation so far, leaving people frustrated and helpless.
We appeal to the authorities to visit Rajivnagar, speak to the residents and ascertain the reason for the frequent power cuts. Electricity officials should also provide clear information on the problem and the steps being taken to resolve it. Residents are not asking for any special favour. We are only asking for a reliable electricity supply and proper accountability.
