Promises wage hike for Anganwadi workers

Belagavi: In yet another guarantee of the Congress party for the people, senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday announced that the Congress would hike the wages of Anganwadi workers if the party was voted to power in the State.

Addressing a Congress poll rally at Khanapur in Belagavi district on Sunday, Priyanka Gandhi said that the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers would be hiked to Rs.15,000 and that of Anganwadi helpers to Rs.10,000.

Accusing the BJP Government of doing little for easing unemployment in the State, she said that there are over 2.5 lakh jobs lying vacant for years and the Congress would take steps to fill them on a priority basis if voted to power.

Charging the BJP of rampant corruption and maladministration, she said that PM Modi had not acted on complaints of 40 percent commission made by Karnataka Contractors Association and had also failed to take action against the bureaucrat son of a BJP MLA who was recently caught taking Rs. 8 crore bribe.

She further said that the people of Karnataka were desperately seeking a change of Government and the Congress was very much hopeful of forming the next Government in the State with full majority.
