Promising high profits in share market: Family cheated of Rs. 2.14 crore

Case registered against couple at CEN Police Station

Mysore/Mysuru: Members of a family, who were lured with high profits by investing in share market, have been cheated to the tune of Rs. 2.14 crore by a couple and a case has been registered against the couple at city’s Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police Station.

The person, who has lodged a complaint, is Antony Nishan Lima, a resident of Telecom Layout in Bogadi and the accused are 45-year-old G.N. Krishnamurthy and his wife Diana, who were running Himalaya Commodities at Hinkal.

In his complaint, Antony has stated that when he was working in SBI Life Insurance in 2014, Krishnamurthy came to be known through his (Antony) father and Krishnamurthy had taken                                                                     Rs. 1 lakh from his father by saying that he (Antony’s father) would get interest ranging from 24 percent to 36 percent annually if the money was invested in share market.

Accordingly, Krishnamurthy used to give Rs. 2,000 every month as profit earned in share market. After six months, Antony’s father told Krishnamurthy that he was in need of money and Krishnamurthy promptly returned Rs. 1 lakh, thus gaining the confidence of Antony’s family members.

The complaint further stated that in 2014-15, Krishnamurthy and his wife Diana met him and told him that they were running a share market company by the name Himalaya Commodities and had taken franchisee of Goodwill Concrate company. They then told Antony to invest money in shares following which Antony, his father, brother-in-law and other family members invested a total of Rs. 2,14,84,500 with the couple.

Antony has further stated the couple did not pay any profit to them from 2016 to 2019 and when the couple were asked to return the money, they used to give reasons.

Recently, the couple have closed their company and have gone missing and their mobile phones are also switched off, the complaint stated and added that the couple have not only cheated them (Antony’s family) but may have  cheated others also.
