Proposal for Outer Circular Bus Route

Sir,

This is in response to the letter by Ashok Bhushan (SOM dated Oct. 28) regarding direct buses from JP Nagar to Ramakrishnanagar. This is the need for every Mysurean, connecting neighbouring areas by city buses, either JP Nagar to RK Nagar or Siddhartha Layout to Vidyaranyapuram. Circular bus routes is the only answer for this.

Here is the proposed high-level Outer Circle Bus Route in consultation with Yogendra of Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP).

Clockwise route starts from Sathagalli Bus Stand –  Rajkumar Road  – Right turn at Sangeetha Corner – Siddhartha Layout Vinaya Marga – Kollegal road till Race Course  –  MG Road till JSS Hospital Agrahara  – Ramanuja Road pass through St. Mary’s School –  Right turn near Sewage Farm – 16th Cross Vidyaranyapuram – Left towards Sterling and continue till Gobli Mara –  Right towards Kavitha Bakery –  Right turn at the Kavitha Bakery towards Brigade Apartment – Left towards HD Kote Road – HD Kote Road.

Take right towards Srirampura – Pass through Arvind Nagar towards Vivekananda Circle –  Ramakrishnanagar Ruby Bakery – Ramakrishna Paramahamsa  Circle and Tibbadevi Circle and reach Sharada Devi Circle via the Diagonal Road to reach Bogadi Road and finally Ring Road.

Pass on the Ring Road to reach RPG Telecables Road – RANE Madras and Infosys and rejoin Ring Road – Pass through KRS Road – Columbia Asia and take Service Road to reach Narayana Hospitals – Right at Naryana Hospitals – Udayagiri Mahadevapura Road – left towards Sathagalli Bus Stand – Pass through Shanthinagar and end the trip in Sathagalli Bus Stand. Same route anti-clock wise.

This route is around 40 kms. It might take around 1.5 hours  – 2 hours to do a complete trip. 40 buses, with 20 buses in each direction can give something like  6-8  minutes frequency during peak hours. This would connect most of the important areas of Mysuru without touching CBS and Central Business District, decongesting it.

I request our District Minister V. Somanna to take up this and get a new fleet for KSRTC City Division. Officials can start a pilot service with good frequency of at least 10 minutes in one direction with 8-10 buses which is not a huge ask. If the frequency is less, this would become unsuccessful.
