Protest against anti-farmer policies in city on Dec. 17

Mysore/Mysuru: The farmers will stage a protest against the anti-farmer policies of both Union and State Governments in city on Dec.17, said Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene leader Vidyasagar.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, he said that both Union and State Governments have ignored farmers and have failed to solve their problems and by giving false assurances they are misleading the farmers.

He further said that to condemn the anti-farmer policies of the Governments, a protest march will be taken out on Dec. 17  at 11 am from Gun House Circle, which will pass through New Sayyaji Rao Road, Santhepet, Devaraja Urs Road and reach Deputy Commissioner’s Office where a memorandum will be submitted.

He said that their demands include fixing of Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of Rs. 4,500 per ton for sugarcane, opening of paddy purchase centres since harvesting of paddy has started in the State, farmers be paid Rs. 45 per litre of milk, Rs. 25 lakh compensation for the family of persons killed by wild animals, Rs. 20,000 compensation in case of death of animals like sheep and goat, Rs. 1 lakh in case of death of animals like cow, buffalo and bull, to drop fixing of meters for drinking water connection to homes under Jal Jeevan Mission and also not to fix meters for farmers’ agricultural pump-sets.

Manju Kiran of Hasiru Sene, Immavu Raghu, Kallipura Mahadevaswamy and Krishnegowda were present at the press meet.
