Mysore/Mysuru: Members of Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (DSS), Mysuru, held a protest in front of Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday against holding online classes.

Protesters alleged that power outages are frequent in the country, many rural areas do not have internet services and there are network issues in many localities. While many parents do not have access to a mobile phone or a laptop, compelling school children to use mobile phones for two to three hours per day is itself a bad idea. 

The majority of students do not have computers and far-flung areas do not have even network  coverage. They demanded the Government to stop conducting online classes for school going children and take action against those private schools, which are conducting and collecting fees for online classes. 

Protesting activists then submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner (DC) through Deputy Tahsildar Borappa at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
