Protest staged against delayed road works at Gokulam

Mysore/Mysuru: Condemning the unreasonable delay in the completion of road work by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), residents under the leadership of Corportator K.V. Sridhar staged a protest against MUDA officials near Trinetra Circle at Gokulam 3rd Stage in city yesterday.

The road work from Trinetra Circle to Water Tank at Vijayanagar 2nd Stage which is about 700 metres and started three months ago has come to a halt. Though the work was started on a fast pace, it was later put in cold storage after digging the road completely.

The protestors alleged that the public including residents, motorists and shopkeepers are going through hell because of the dust which could lead to severe respiratory problems.

Incidents of road mishaps on this road has become common, they said and added that though repeated representations to Corporation and MUDA officials were made, nothing was done in this regard.

When MUDA officials including Assistant Executive Engineer came to visit the spot for work inspection, the locals led by Corporator Sridhar protested against them and detained them for over two hours. The protest was withdrawn after higher MUDA Officials intervened and assured of taking up the works in 15 days.
