Protestors seek reduction in minimum balance of SB account

Mysuru: Over 30 members of Karnataka Sena Pade staged a demonstration in front of State Bank of India (SBI) on Sayyaji Rao Road in city yesterday demanding that the quarterly average minimum balance in Savings Bank (SB) account be reduced from the present Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 500.

Claiming that Rs.3,000 minimum balance rule was a burden on poor Bank customers, the protesters sought scrapping of the minimum balance rule and to allow zero balance in SB accounts as such a move will benefit lakhs of poor customers.
