Mysore/Mysuru: The indefinite Statewide stir launched by ASHA workers seeking fulfilment of their various demands reached eleventh day today.
Pointing out that even after eleven days of their protests and agitation, their demands have not met, P.S. Sandhya, a member of the ASHA Workers’ Federation (AIUTUC) said, “Over 47 eminent personalities of the State including writers Dr. Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Devanuru Mahadeva, Vaidehi, social activist P. Mallesh, veteran theatre artiste Prof. Rameshwari Varma and others have rendered support to our ongoing agitation. Despite several pleas, representations and memorandums to the State Government, the district administrations and people representatives over the past six months, the authorities have failed to fulfil our demands.”
AIUTUC State Secretary D. Nagalakshmi and State President K. Somashekhar Yadagiri released a press note this morning, which listed out various issues faced by agitating ASHA workers. Protesting ASHA workers warned that they would not return to work unless their demands are met.
Trainee staff nurses continue their protest
Trainee staff nurses have continued their indefinite protest by wearing black arm bands and continuing their work.
All these staff nurses are serving at K.R. and Cheluvamba Hospitals and are seeking fulfilment of their various demands. The trainee staff nurses are on protest in since July 9. They alleged that they are paid a meagre amount of Rs. 10,000 per month and said they have launched the indefinite protest by wearing black bands to draw the attention of the Government.
