Mysuru: Accusing CFTRI Director Prof. Ram Rajasekharan exploiting and harassing Kannadiga employees, members of the CFTRI Ulisi Horata Vedike staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s office here yesterday, demanding sacking of the Director.

Alleging that Prof. Ram Rajasekharan who took over as the CFTRI Director in 2012, has been targeting Kannadiga Employees besides making efforts to vitiate the harmonious atmosphere in the institute which was started in 1950, the protesters demanded his sacking.

Further, accusing the CFTRI Director of practising a divide and rule policy and misappropriation of funds in the name of research, the protesters, who raised slogans against Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, urged re-opening of ‘Kannada Sahrudaya Balaga’ office and re-appointment of Kannadiga Employees who were suspended two years ago.

Veteran writer Prof. C.P. Krishna Kumar, Journalist Rajashekhar Koti, Vedike President K.S. Shivaramu, Prof. K.S. Bhagavan, M. Chandrashekar, Zakir Hussain and others led the protest.

MP Police firing: Farmers stage protest

Strongly condemning the Police firing on farmers in Madhya Pradesh which took out the lives of six agriculturists, farmers under the banner of State Sugarcane Growers Association, registered their protest by blocking the Mysuru-T. Narasipur Road near Varakodu gate yesterday.

The demonstration was in response to the Nation-wide protest called by Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Federation of Indian Farmer Associations.

Demanding a fair price for all agricultural produce and implementation of M.S. Swaminathan Report, the protesters expressed anger over mud-slinging between the State and Union Governments over farm loan waiver, at a time when the farming community was in deep distress with farmers committing suicide every other day.

Condemning the police firing on protesting farmers in MP, the protesters demanded the dismissal of the MP Government.

Traffic Movement on the busy Mysuru-T. Narasipur Road was affected for sometime due to the road-blockade.

Association President Kurubur Shantakumar, office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Shankar, Bhagyaraj, Varakodu Krishnegowda and others took part.

BVS demand bus pass facility to all students

Demanding that the free bus pass facility to SC/ST students be extended to Other Backward Classes (OBC), minority community and all other economically-backward sections of the society, members of the Bahujan Vidyarthi Sangha (BVS) staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s office here this morning.

Claiming that the neglect of poor students from other communities while declaring free bus pass facility to SC/ST students was not correct, the protesters demanded extension of the facility to cover all sections of the society.

The protesters also sought job reservation in private sector, filling up of backlog vacancies and a hike in food allowance and student scholarship, among others.

BVS office-bearers Sosale Siddaraju, Ganesh Murthy, Pratap, Vasanth, Naveen Karya and others led the protest.
