Protests for Mahadayi in Mysuru

Mysuru: Various pro-farmer and progressive organisations including the Raitha Sangha, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association, Karunada Janashakthi Vedike, staged a protest at Gandhi Square in city this morning demanding justice for the State in Mahadayi and Kalasa Banduri projects.

The protestors alleged that the BJP MPs and other leaders had failed to bring justice for the State and added that they had only used the issue for political gains. The political leaders, irrespective of their party affiliations, should come together and work towards resolving these issues for the welfare of the State, they demanded.

Meanwhile, the members of both City and District Congress Committees staged a separate protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust near Mysore Court Complex on Krishnaraja Boulevard.

They blamed the BJP leaders for not working sincerely to resolve the Mahadayi issue and added that instead of them writing a letter to Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, they had written the letter to BJP National President Amit Shah.

District President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, City President R. Murthy, former Mayors and Corporators were present. Later, the Mahila Congress members Manjula Manasa, Nandini Chandrashekar and others collected donations from party workers towards the treatment for mental illness of MP Pratap Simha and Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde who were involved in loose talks.
