‘Public participation is vital in Swachh Survekshan’

MLC D. Madegowda (centre) is seen at an awareness programme on ‘Swachh Survekshan and Cleanliness’ jointly organised by Rotary Mysore North and Rotary J.P. Nagar at Rotary Hall on JLB Road here yesterday.

Mysuru:  Rotary Mysore North and Rotary J.P. Nagar together had organised an awareness programme on ‘Swachh Survekshan and Cleanliness’ at Rotary Hall on JLB Road here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion former MLC D. Madegowda opined that people should give paramount importance for cleanliness as the city has been drawing people across the globe through tourism. He further said that Mysuru had dropped to the fifth place in cleanliness during the last assessment and hence averred that the city should regain the Numero Uno Status back which needs the co-operation of the residents and not just the effort of MCC.  Madegowda asked the residents to segregate waste at home and use the MCC App effectively to inform if they come across any garbage container overflowing.

Addressing the gathering, Field Publicity Director Dr. T.C. Poornima lauded the city for getting adjudged as the cleanest city twice earlier. She suggested members of all Rotary Clubs to download the MCC Survekshan Mobile App to effectively participate in the programme. Rotary North President Rajashekara Kadamba, Rotary J.P. Nagar President Venkatesh, Secretary B.R. Shivakumar, Joint Secretary A.P. Virupaksha and others were present.
