Puttige Seer’s Chaturmasya at Dallas concludes

Mysuru: Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Puttige Mutt, one of the Ashta Mutts, conducted his 45th Chaturmasya at Dallas in the United States of America.  The Chaturmasya events began on Aug.11 and were completed on Sept.23.

This is the 10th Chaturmasya conducted by the Seer on a foreign soil. Chaturmasya (literally “four months”) is a ‘vrata’ or vow traditionally observed for the four lunar months of Sravana, Bhadra, Asvina and Kartika — approximately July-August through October-November.

As part of the rituals, the 45-day Chaturmasya was observed with religious fervour and abiding by the history and traditions of the Puttige Mutt. Rituals like Samsthana Puja, Thottilu Puja and Mudradharane were performed and sermons were delivered to the devotees.

During the Chaturmasya, festivals like Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesha Chaturthi and the birthday of Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji was observed in a grand manner. The Seer declared to the Dallas audience that a new temple with Krishna Brindavan will be built at Dallas and it will be the 11th such Krishna Brindavan on a foreign soil.

This apart, Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji delivered lectures in English to Dallas audience about the message of Bhagavadgita to the modern world.  He also took part in the 16th Annual Gita Conference on Sept.15 and 16 at Karyasiddhi Hanuman Temple built by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysuru.
