Bengaluru: Karnataka is among the 15 States selected to exhibit tableau for the Republic Day parade slated to be held at New Delhi on Jan. 26, 2025. The list of States has been released by the Ministry of Defence.
Karnataka was not included in the list States for the Republic Day parade in 2024, which had resulted in political mudslinging.
It is expected that, during the forthcoming Republic Day parade, Karnataka will exhibit the tableau of ancient temple of Lakkundi.
It is believed that, the State Government is making efforts to include Lakkundi in the list of World Heritage Places and it is likely that, the temple at Lakkundi will be chosen as the topic for tableau to be exhibited during Republic Day parade 2025. Lakkundi houses many Jain and Shaiva temples built during the period of Chalukya and Kalachuri rulers.
Ministry of Defence releases a list of States selected to participate in the Republic Day celebrations, once in three years thereby enabling various States to exhibit their tableaux in the parade.
Only 15 States and Union Territories are given an opportunity to take part in the Republic Day parade. The country is divided into six zones based on Inter-State boards and a quota has been fixed for each zone.
The list of States to participate in the Republic Day parade for the years 2025 and 2026 has already been finalised.
According to the list, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been
accommodated in the year 2025. Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will get their chance in 2026.
