Bengaluru: The polling in the prestigious Raja Rajeswari Nagar (RR Nagar) Assembly Constituency began on a moderate note this morning even as the members of JD(S) and Congress coalition will be battling among themselves to improve their respective party’s tally in the Legislative Assembly, while the Opposition BJP is looking at snatching the Constituency from the Congress.
While the Congress has fielded sitting MLA Munirathna, the JD(S) has fielded former Corporator G.H. Ramachandra, father-in-law of actress Amulya and the BJP Tulasi Muniraj Gowda.
The Constituency with an electorate of 4,71,459 voters is witnessing a close triangular fight between the Congress, JD(S) and the BJP.
The polling which began at 7 am will conclude at 6 pm. The counting of votes will be taken up on May 31.
The Election Commission had deferred the poll after nearly 10,000 EPIC Cards were found in a residential apartment days before the May 12 Assembly polls.
Elsewhere in the country, by-election to four Lok Sabha Constituencies — two in Maharashtra, one each in UP and Nagaland is taking place today apart from by-polls to Assembly segments in a few States.
