RAAGA to present vocal concert by Saralaya Sisters tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: RAAGA Music Academy has organised a grand vocal concert by the famous Saralaya Sisters — Vidu. Kavitha Saralaya and Vidu. Triveni Saralaya — on Sunday (Jan.21) at Bidaram Krishnappanavara Prasanna Seetharama Mandira, Narayana Shastry Road in city at 6 pm.

They will be accompanied by Vidu. Aditi Krishnaprakash on violin, Vid. Tumakuru B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Raghunandan Rao on ghata.

Saralaya Sisters were initiated into Karnatak Music at a young age by their parents and the musical journey started under the tutelage of Gurus Dindigal S.P. Natarajan and Vidu. S. Vijayalakshmi.

They also had the good fortune to have the guidance of stalwarts like Padma Vibhushan Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna and Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi.

They have performed for over 25 years now for major organisations and music festivals all over India and have also performed extensively on concert tours of USA, UK, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Dubai, Singapore and at all the major opera theatres in France.

Saralaya Sisters are empanelled in the National list of artistes of ICCR, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. In a mission to Sri Lanka from ICCR, they were bestowed with the title of Gana Ratna from the Arts Council of Sri Lanka. They are the recipients of the title of Ganakalashree from Karnataka Ganakala Parishad and are A grade artistes of Prasara Bharathi, India.

Apart from performing they are actively involved in training several students and working towards social causes through their Prathyarpana Foundation for Social Responsibility. The foundation has supported many service oriented organisations and needy artistes during the COVID pandemic.
