Mysuru: Over 200 people participated in the 5K marathon, ‘Race for Recovery’, organised by Oculis Iuris in association with the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT), JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) recently.
The event aimed to raise awareness about substance abuse, its harmful consequences and the need for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
The marathon began with a brief inaugural ceremony at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. Manasa Orthopaedic Hospital MD Dr. S. Raghunandana was the chief guest and flagged off the run.
Among those present were Dr. Narayanappa, Principal of JSS Medical College and Dr. M. Arun, HoD of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, JSS AHER.
The marathon route covered Hardinge Circle, Gun House Circle, Ramaswamy Circle, City Railway Station and Ashoka Road before concluding at the starting point. Students, professionals and fitness enthusiasts took part in the event.
Organisers said the event served as a platform to educate public on social, physical and psychological impact of addiction while encouraging collective efforts towards prevention and recovery.
