Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that veteran writer and former Kannada faculty Dr. Ramegowda’s (popularly known as RaGow) works have a historical sense, former Chief Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, who is also a former Union Minister, said that RaGow has contributed a lot for Kannada literary world.
He was speaking after releasing the book titled ‘Dr.RaGow Avara Kannada Kavyagalalli Aitihaasika Vichaaragalu’ and ‘Dr.RaGow-80 Nudigourava’ felicitation volume at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Karnataka Sangha, Mandya, Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Samvahana Prakashana and Dr.RaGow Shishyaru-Abhimaanigala Balaga at Rani Bahadur Auditorium on Hunsur road here recently.
Pointing out that many studies, reviews and research have been done in Kannada literature, Dr. Moily, who is also a writer himself, said that of late, non-literary studies too are taking place. Observing that Literature and Records are different from each other, he said that while most of the Literature is based on emotional and social issues, Records are based on monuments, scriptures and inscriptions.
Opining that of late there seems to be a lack of studies, Dr. Moily said that reading of reviews, reference books and novels is vital in writing literary books. Similarly, writing of historical works too need studies in a lot of subjects, he said. Arguing that History cannot be created newly, he said that any new creation cannot be called as History.
Continuing, Dr. Moily said that though there are many literary works on the State, most of them were skeletal in nature. But RaGow’s works have filled life into them thus giving a complete picture of the State’s History, he said adding that the works also carry a message that History should not be erased.
Dr.RaGow was felicitated. Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji and Mysuru Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji graced the occasion.
