Raichur teacher on school trip killed in road mishap near Periyapatna

Periyapatn: A 55-year-old school teacher from Raichur, who had come along with a group of students on tour, was killed when a car rammed into him, when he was crossing the road near Punadahalli Gate in Periyapatna taluk on Sunday night. The deceased is Eeranna (55), a teacher at a school in Sindanur taluk in Raichur district.

After visiting Madikeri, Magaluru and other nearby places, the teacher and the students were on their way back in a bus when the students requested him to stop the bus as they wanted to attend nature’s call.

After the driver stopped the bus on the road side, Eeranna, was crossing the road to go to the other side, when a car rammed into him killing him on the spot.

Following the incident, the students were housed at Mahalakshmi Kalyana Mantap in the town and were sent back. President of Government Employees Association Shivayoga and Government Primary School Teachers Association President Ganesh Kumar, consoled the school children and made arrangements for their food. The owner of the Kalyana Mantap also provided the place for them to stay overnight for free. Post-mortem was conducted at the Periyapatna General Hospital and the body was shifted to Sindanur. Periyapatna Police have registered a case.
