Rain creates havoc in city: Trees uprooted, vehicles submerged in cellars

Mysuru: Rain, accompanied with gusty winds including thunder and lightning has created havoc in parts of city.

The rains, which began at about 6 pm yesterday, stopped for an hour and started again with a drizzle for about half-an-hour and then began to lash continuously sending motorists and the public to take shelter.

While a tree was uprooted in Siddarthanagar, branches of trees fell on the roads in Devaraja Mohalla, Chamaraja Mohalla, N.R. Mohalla and surroundings disrupting the traffic. Many manholes were also seen overflowing in many parts of the city.

Rain water also gushed into about six houses in Paduvarahalli 1st cross and the residents were seen removing rainwater from these houses. Cellars of many apartments were also flooded with rainwater submerging the vehicles parked there.
