Rain plays spoilsport for floating stage programme at KRS

Mysuru: The popular Sound and Light Show along with cultural programmes at the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam had a damp start yesterday due to heavy rain. While the Sound and Light show was conducted for some time, the cultural programmes were cancelled.

Irrigation officials had planned an elaborate cultural and musical show yesterday and had organised a performance on a floating stage set up near the boating pond.

It started raining at around 6.30 pm and the showers picked up pace forcing the authorities to shift the programme venue to the lawns of Royal Orchid Hotel at KRS.

Mandya District in-Charge Minister M. Krishnappa inaugurated the programme in the presence of Mandya MP C.S. Puttaraju, MLC K.T. Srikantegowda and Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda.

The cultural programme that was to be performed by Chaitra and party had to be cancelled. Today too, a decision will be taken on the programme at floating stage depending upon the weather conditions.

The important places in the dam like the Brindavan Gardens have been illuminated to give it a bright look.

The lights are switched on at 6.30 pm and will be maintained in that state till the tourists are there at the venue.

Shivashankar, MD, Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited inspected the KRS in view of Dasara festival arrangements. Chief engineer Manjunath, Superintending Engineer Vijaykumar, Executive Engineer Basavarajegowda and Assistant Executive Engineer Vasudev and others were present.
